Our contemporary modern rug art is produced in Rajasthan, India, as a hand-knotted Persian weave in 11/11 knot quality in a nice blend of wool and silk. The surface comes in a high/low texture and creates a patina, where we oxidize particular wool fields to create a topography of material and texture.

Introducing the EmbraceMe collection, a captivating addition to our RUG SCULPTURE section, curated with love and the perspective that content can be focused on the questions and that products not only give answers. Research that we allowed ourselves to be translated into hand-knotted Persian and Tibetan rugs.
Inspired by the ethereal beauty of lights streaming through a church window, these rugs from our Skin of Civilisation catalog hold a special place in my heart. They exude a spiritual essence, inviting you to embrace the deeper meaning within.
With every design in the EmbraceMe collection, I aimed to disrupt the idea of traditional patterns in rug design and challenge the boundaries of rug design. I wanted to capture that fleeting moment of light’s transformation and translate it into the intricate artistry of hand-knotted Persian and Tibetan rugs. It was a labor of love, involving a dedicated team of 3-5 individuals who poured their hearts into the meticulous weaving process that spanned approximately 5 months.
As a creator, I believe in more than just providing answers through design; I want to evoke questions and spark contemplation. Over my 22-year journey with RUG STAR, I have continuously pushed the limits and ventured beyond the conventional norms of rug design. It has been a profound experience to witness how these rugs have the power to reflect aspects of my culture and my own being within the intimate spaces of my home and the homes of others.
