HardBoiledSplash Collection

Our collection HardBoiledSplash has mostly modern contemporary patterns, which appear as textured and tender landscapes in the interior. The designs are mostly produced in Jaipur, Rajasthan as Persian weave in a nice blend of wool and silk in 9/9 knot count. The surface comes in a beautiful velvet sandblasted execution or in a high/low texture, where we clip down particular wool fields to create a topography of material and texture. Besides the black & white versions, the colors

mostly move from an elegant combination of silver tones to blueish with highlights in rust, copper, gold, or coral. The background plays with off-white tone and grey blends of wool and wool/silk mixtures. All designs of our contemporary rug art collection are customizable on request. Custom and bespoke rugs are the trademarks of RUG STAR, contact us with your ideas after reviewing the collection. We would love to create your one of a kind rug for your interior.

A moment with HardBoiledSplash

I love this picture where HardBoiledSplash No. 02 is shown with the proud weaver wearing the rug as a robe and his workspace in the background with the same design fresh on the loom.

In April 2019, I took my dearest friend and Berlin-based photographer Caroline Saage with me to Jaipur, Rajasthan. Our mission was to visit the village of the RUG STAR weavers in our workshops for the Persian weave production.

Early morning, 4 AM we took the van to the village Dheeroda, a two hours’ drive from Jaipur, the village where nearly 400 people only work for RUG STAR. We were a bit under pressure, due to the heat we had to make sure that we set up everything before sunrise. There was something magical when we arrived, at that moment the village was quiet and tender.

We took off our shirts and wrapped us into the rugs and started the shoot, oh what a laugh! The curiosity grew by the minutes and it didn’t take long before the younger village men follow our model ambition and wrapped themselves in the rugs they produced before.
