Our contemporary modern rug art is produced in Rajasthan, India as a hand-knotted Persian weave in 11/11 knot quality in a nice blend of wool and silk. The surface comes in a high/low texture and creates a patina, where we oxidize particular wool fields to create a topography of material and texture.

In the contemporary classic collection Ikat Dragon we fragment, recompose, rip and rematch ancient Tibetan dragon motives. Besides this, we add Tibetan earth and sky elements in the background of the contemporary rug design. The dragon patterns are emphasized by Ikat, a traditional Uzbek weaving technique that uses a process referred to as resist dyeing. The rugs are produced in Jaipur, Rajasthan in fine hand-knotted Persian rug weave in 11/11 knot quality in silk and wool.
To play with the idea of a patina we oxidize most of the wool in the washing process, a high and low effect shows up and creates a stunning texture by showing warp and weft on some limited fields. All designs of our contemporary rug art collection are customizable on request. Custom and bespoke rugs are the trademarks of RUG STAR, contact us with your ideas after reviewing the collection. We would love to create your one of a kind rug for your interior.
